What is Telehealth/Telepsychiatry?
Telehealth is a broad term that refers to the delivery of healthcare services and information using telecommunications technology. It encompasses various forms of remote healthcare, including medical consultations, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and patient education. Telehealth enables healthcare professionals to provide services to patients who are geographically distant or have limited access to healthcare facilities, improving convenience and accessibility.
Telepsychiatry, on the other hand, is a specific subset of telehealth that focuses on the delivery of psychiatric care and mental health services remotely. It involves the use of technology, such as videoconferencing or secure messaging platforms, to connect psychiatrists or mental health professionals with patients for assessments, consultations, therapy sessions, and medication management. Telepsychiatry expands access to mental healthcare, particularly for individuals residing in rural or underserved areas, and helps overcome barriers like transportation issues and stigma associated with seeking help for mental health concerns.
Is my privacy protected with telepsychiatry?
Yes, all email communications to [email protected] are handled by a HIPAA-compliant email server. Telehealth visits are hosted through a secure video conferencing portal. Your privacy is my highest concern. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly.
